I don't like knitting patterns, which are directly related to knitting density. I prefer to knit patterns than according to the diagrams.
That's why I decided to look for baby cap pattern and soon I succeeded.
I present to your attention the diagram I constructed.
In the book in which I found this cap pattern, other, more complex ones, consisting of several parts, were also proposed, but for knitting I chose this very simple pattern, because the knitted fabric stretches relatively easily and takes the desired shape.
The upper part (33 cm) is divided into three equal parts (11 cm each), segments of the same length are laid at the very bottom of the diagram (11 cm each).
Knit I started crochet single crochet from top to bottom.
I used a special one for knitting a cap. baby cotton .
It was very easy for me to knit, since the height of one row with my knitting density was exactly 0.5 cm.
Probably the most difficult thing is to make a decrease in order to knit a small rounding 2 cm high (see in the diagram), this is easier to do if you build a pattern, for example, on a newspaper and simply apply knitting to it, determining whether it is time to finish the row and move on to the next one.
The bend at the very bottom of the part (0.5 cm) causes somewhat less problems.

If you have knitted socks, then you know how the heel is knitted.
Cast on 56 loops (this is for 2 or 3 months) knit 4 r. with a 1x1 rib and then evenly add another 10 stitches, knitting with a pattern in this case is:

We make an increase only in the 1st row and then knit 4-5 cm in stocking stitch.
We make the second ruffle in exactly the same way, but 3-4 cm.
We tie the edges with cloves (hook).
If you think that the ruffles will hang too loosely, go along the edge, heel, with a needle and thread and pull it a little.
You can try on the hat if you have kids, I knitted 10 stitches more, because I knitted this costume for 6-9 months and it depends on the yarn. My thread was of medium thickness.
I embroidered the flowers with a knitting needle. Yes, if you need a larger size, cast on 65 loops and then in the last row add 10 = 75. Of course, depending on what the pattern will be. In the last row, add 10 loops and knit with a pattern of 13-14 cm (depending on the child’s head), I have 13 cm on this hat. 13 cm, we knit the cloves, for this we knit in stockinette stitch (knit on the face, and purl on the wrong side), 6 rows, and make holes in the 7th row (if the cloves need to be more visible, then we knit 1 edge stitch, 2 yarn overs, 2 loops together, knit and etc.). We simply knit the 8th row purlwise. Then we knit 4 more rows and then we got 5 rows with the reverse 8th row. With an additional knitting needle, cast on from the wrong side in the initial row of knitting the cloves, the same number of loops as on the main knitting needle. And now we knit the 6th purl row with purl loops, 2 loops together (one loop from the main knitting needle, and the other loop from the second knitting needle that raised the loops) and so on until the end until there are 75 loops again. And now we knit like a heel to a toe. When the hat is ready, cast on 65-62 loops along the bottom edge of the hat and knit with a 1 x 1.3 cm elastic band. In the last row, leave 4 loops at the edges for ties and bind off the remaining loops. Knit the ties in a 1x1 pattern, changing stitches every 2nd row. Purl over the knits, knit over the purls. Up to the length you need the strings. The hat is ready. Of course, you first need to remove all the extra threads from the wrong side.
To make the teeth white, we knit the 7th and 8th rows with white thread.

- Choose a hook that is not thin - the finished fabric should be soft and pleasant to the touch.
- Prepare a thick tapestry needle and scissors. You will also need a measuring tape or ruler.
- First, decide on the size of the hat itself. Knitting will be done in the round. Therefore, the first 4 rows of a hat for any age of a child should be knitted the same way. Further knitted hats for newborns will differ in the number of loops in subsequent rows.
- We start with a “wonderful loop” - roll the thread into a ring and tie it with 10 double crochets. After this, pull the end of the thread - the columns will be arranged in a circle and the hole will not be visible. This is the first round of loops.
- Second row - add another double crochet to each stitch - you should get 20 stitches.
- Third row - add a double crochet every other stitch until you reach 30 in the row.
- Fourth row - every 2 loops we add a double crochet to make 40.
- From the 5th row, the number of columns will vary depending on the age of the child. Knitted hats for newborns (up to 3 months) should be done as follows: from the 5th to the 14th rows, knit 45 double crochets; for a child from 3 to 6 months, knit from 5 to 15 rows of 50 double crochets. For children from six months to 9 months in a hat, 50 stitches are knitted in the 5th row, and from the 6th to the 16th row they are increased to 55 double crochets. The base for the hat is ready.
How to crochet original hats for newborns?
“Bear” - for this model you need to knit two more parts in the form of circles from yarn of two colors. The ears are made according to the pattern in the photo and sewn on both sides of the cap.
For newborns, you can easily crochet the “Frog” model. In this case, everything is decided by the bright green color and the location of the “eye-buttons” (these details are double, consisting of a green and white circle). The photo clearly shows how to do this.
