How to make a hat out of paper?

An ordinary paper hat consists of 3 parts: the bottom, the brim and the crown. The main work consists of making these parts and gluing them together. The crown is made from a paper rectangle, equal in height to the hat. Its width should also be equal to the hat. Once the piece is cut, glue the rectangle together to form a cylinder and set aside to dry.

To make the bottom of the hat, take cardboard and place the crown on the cardboard. Trace and cut out the resulting circle, adding a couple of centimeters for the seam. In addition to regular cardboard, the bottom of the hat can be made from a disposable paper plate. Make cuts 1 cm deep around the entire circumference of the cardboard circle. Fold the cuts and glue the circle to the crown.

The brim of the hat can be made from a separate sheet of paper by drawing two concentric circles on it: one circle should be 1 cm less than the diameter of the crown, and the second should be equal to the planned size of the brim of the future hat. Make cuts along the entire small circle and glue to the crown.

The finished hat can be decorated with beads, ribbons, sequins, foil, beads, bows, etc. To perfect a paper hat, cover it with glitter film or crepe paper.

Step-by-step instruction

Draw a square on black paper and cut it out. Please note that the side of the square should be equal to the shortest side of the A3 sheet.

Turn the cut out square into a circle by carefully rounding the corners of the shape.

Fold a white sheet twice the length. Cut the resulting strip crosswise to create a beautiful fringe, it is important not to touch the bottom edge.

Unfold the sheet and cut it straight along the folds. Twist the fringe on each strip a little with a felt-tip pen or marker.

Note!

A hat made of cardboard is a wonderful type of needlework, and a wonderful way to create a real home theater. Mad Hatter top hat, boyish cap, wide brim summer hat– each craft will help in creating an unforgettable image.

Read and find out for yourself!

In order for our headdress to suit the owner’s taste, you need to start with the main thing: take measurements from the child’s head using a flexible wire. Then we draw a wire circle on cardboard and then work with this pattern as a base for future crafts.

A little more about our exercises:

  1. FIRST, LET'S PLEASE THE LADIES

We make a cardboard rectangle along the length of the small circle and roll it into a circle, which we fasten with hot glue. The folds on the cardboard should be perpendicular to the cut line - this way the structure will have greater rigidity.

    It's the top's turn...

... and wide fields. A glue gun works wonders!

  2. BEING A CARELESS BOY IS EVERYONE'S DREAM
It's the cap's turn. We put our base circle on a sheet of cardboard and trace it - we have an internal bend for the visor.

We complement the internal curve with the external one - we do it slowly and slowly so that the curves are graceful and neat.

We have two alternatives: we either make a rectangle (as in the previous case), or, if we want the back to be narrow and the front to be wide, we cut out a long cardboard strip with a hump in the middle.

We glue all the parts together with hot glue - and let's go chase the pigeons!

  3. CYLINDER IS A DELICATE MATTER
Our cylinder is not as simple as it might seem at first glance: its base is noticeably narrower than the upper circle. We place our small circle on a sheet of material and outline it with a larger circle. both closed curves - for this you will need a curvimeter, but you can get by with an ordinary watch. You need to do it this way - set the watch exactly at 12:00, place the wheel in a retracted state on the line and draw along its entire length. Count how many minutes on the clock face correspond to the length of the line and write down this number. Now we set the arrows again at noon and draw the wheel along the usual thirty-centimeter ruler. We count the minutes, make up the proportion - the desired value is found.

The time has come for difficulties. Draw a figure on a durable sheet as shown in the figure.
Its upper arc should correspond to the length of the top of the cylinder, the lower one to the opening for the head, and straight lines should go at right angles to both arcs. And again, we advise you not to rush and show calm - patience and work will grind everything down.

We cut out all three, glue them together with a glue gun - we've almost mastered a new craft!

WE DECORATE HEADS

Drawings, inscriptions and colors of national flags - we attract any ideas!

Don’t be afraid to show courage - if one craft doesn’t turn out to be entirely successful, you can always correct your mistakes in the next work.

We wish you happy creativity! A cardboard hat is the first step on the path to high fashion!
