Types of needles for tattoo machines and their soldering

The work of a tattoo artist directly depends on the quality of the needle. It is used to puncture the top layer of skin to inject color pigment through it. Tattoo needles have different sharpening points and different diameters. There are three types of needle sharpening: long, medium and short. Their diameter ranges from 0.25 to 0.4 mm.

Long-pointed needles are suitable for contouring, medium-pointed needles are universal, and short-pointed needles are suitable for shading. Needles of maximum diameter and short sharpening leave a thick point on the skin. Needles of thin diameter and long sharpening, respectively, leave the smallest point in the skin. Needles with a diameter of 0.3 and 0.35 mm are in great demand.

According to their purpose, needles are divided into several categories

Round Linear (RL)

These needles are designed for drawing contour lines. Contour needles are soldered in a circle. In soldering, the needles are tightly bunched at the end. The more needles in the bunch, the thicker the contour line. Mainly used for drawing fine lines and small details. Used by craftsmen for permanent makeup, tattoo.

In our tattoo shop you can purchase the following options for RL needles:

  • Cheyenne needles from the Cartucce Cheyenne Pro and The Cheyenne Hawk series;

Round Shader (RS)

Round thinned bun for shading, shadows and smooth color transitions. In this soldering, the needles are parallel to each other.

In our tattoo shop you can purchase the following options for RS needles:

  • Cheyenne needles from the Cartucce Cheyenne Pro and The Cheyenne Hawk series;

Magnum

Needles for painting. They are divided into two subtypes - M1 (Weaved Mag) and M2 (Stacked Mag). They differ in the method of soldering the needles - and, as a result, in their application.

M1 needles at the base they are soldered in a row, but the sharpened parts diverge in a checkerboard pattern. Used for soft shading, from transparent to deep shading.

In our store you can purchase Magnum M1 needles in the following options:

  • Cheyenne needles from the Cartucce Cheyenne Pro and The Cheyenne Hawk series;

Soldering needle M2 differs in that the needles in the bundle are arranged parallel, in two rows, in a checkerboard pattern. Designed for deep painting.

In our store you can purchase Magnum M2 needles in the following options:

  • Cheyenne needles from the Cartucce Cheyenne Pro and The Cheyenne Hawk series.

Round Magnum (RM)

Due to special half-moon soldering, it does not leave “notches” characteristic of conventional Magnums and reduces skin trauma. Used for soft painting.

One of the main Supplies needles are used in tattooing work. First, let's talk about their varieties.

RL (Round Liner) - contouring needles

1RL, 3RL, 5RL, 7RL - the number means the number of needles welded into a circle. The greater their number, the thicker the outline will be. Initially intended for drawing out the finest details and lines, and of course drawing a contour (the mystery is in the name ;-)). The clarity of the line is achieved by sharpening all the needles to one point. They are used both in applying permanent makeup (max 3RL) and other tattoos.

RS (Round Shader) - needles for shadows and shading

We offer needles 3RS, 5RS, 9RS, which are optimal for working with shadows and light shading in the application of permanent makeup. But the number of needles in this type can reach 18. Again, the more needles, the thicker the line. Logical, isn’t it?) Only here they are no longer brought to the center, but stand parallel to each other. How do they actually differ from the previous “RL”.

F (Flat) - needles for soft shadows

Flat translated from English means flat. So we have tightly soldered needles in one row. Ideal for drawing halftones and shadow transitions. Universal for all skin areas 5F and 7F.

RM (Round Magnum) - soft shading

All Magnum needles are intended for shading only. But we only recommend Round Magnum for working with the face. Due to their specific structure, they cause less trauma to the skin, and the tattoo heals faster. Only this type has a crescent shape, so they are easy to recognize).

M1 (Magnum “Weaved Mag”) - needles for shading from transparent to dense

Magnum is the most common and popular type of tattoo needle. This type looks like a double Flat (2 strips of needles soldered to each other, located in a checkerboard pattern). It is better not to use for PM. Available in 5M1, 7M1, 11M1.

M2 (Magnum “Stacked Mag”) - needles for dense shading

Same as the previous one, except that both strips are soldered together in parallel.

Why are some needles suitable for applying permanent makeup and others are not?

The specific sharpening of M1 and M2 needles does not allow them to be used on thin facial skin, as they can injure it too much. We can all imagine the consequences on the client's face. You wouldn't wish it on your enemy. But in areas where the skin is thicker, they are ideal for work. Since painting with them will not require many subsequent adjustments, modifications, or repeated passes with a needle, because this is not very pleasant for the client.

If you have pen-type machines that use needles different lengths They will suit you perfectly acupuncture needles for tattooing. They can be cut to any required length. They are also suitable for all tattoo machines with a straight needle. The acupuncture needle has a smoother sharpening, which allows it to penetrate the skin more easily. Available in sizes 0.25 and 0.30 mm.

Don't forget that the thicker the needle, the more pigment it will introduce. The most popular are needles from 0.25 to 0.35 mm thick. Not too painful for the client, and not too many repeated passes with the needle to paint over.

All needles we offer are made of medical steel of the highest quality. Are located in individual sealed disposable packages. Sterile! Sterilization is performed using γ-irradiation. They have a final laser polishing. Complies with international standards CE and TUV.

Each master is unique when choosing needles. Before identifying the ideal ones for themselves, many specialists go all the way, but it’s worth it. The work becomes more perfect every time. We wish you to achieve the highest mastery!)

Tattoo needles Verge Round Liner

Tattoo tips Verge Round 5R

The lion's share of success when applying a tattoo depends on the right choice needles. However, not every master can cope with this task, especially without impressive luggage practical experience. The problem lies in the variety of equipment designed to implement the art of tattooing. Various models of tattoo machines, the lack of a unified standard for calibrating needles and many manufacturers make even professional artists think. This article will help everyone who is faced with the problem of choosing needles and will make the work easier and more efficient.

Tips for tattoo needles

The tip can be called the main part of the needle, since it is responsible for its secure fastening and hitting the target. Manufacturers produce a huge number of varieties of tips, but they are always based on the degree of sharpening. In total, there are three options for cone-shaped sharpening:

  • Short. The shorter the cone, the more paint will flow down the needle and get under the skin. Such models are indispensable when completely painting a picture;
  • Average. The most universal option, but it is better to use it after gaining some experience;
  • Long. Long-tapered tips are used in liners to draw contours. The longer the tip, the less paint will flow onto the needle, which means the line will be thinner and more accurate. In addition, this type of tip is chosen when working with black pigment, as it leaves the master more time to work on the drawing.

Large diameter needles with a short tip leave fatty spots of pigment on the body. While the small diameter and long tip allow you to create small specks.

However, according to some professional craftsmen, there is no big difference in the size of the cone and, if you have certain skills, you can work equally effectively with any tips. The choice is determined only by personal preferences. The main thing is to buy needles for a tattoo machine with which work will become comfortable and familiar.

Thickness and number of needles

All needles differ in diameter (total width of the adhesion), shape and number of thin elements included in the adhesion. These are the main characteristics responsible for the level of damage to the skin and the amount of coloring pigment entering the skin with each blow.

Needle sizes can vary from 0.2 mm (size 6) to 0.35 mm (size 12). The thinner the needle, the tighter the line will be. And, conversely, for complete and quick painting it is better to use wide needles. The optimal size for painting is considered to be one tenth - 0.3 mm.

Shape of tattoo needles

There are several types of adhesions, each designed to achieve a specific result. Conventionally, all needles can be divided into two main types: liners and shaders. The former are designed for clear lines and detailed images. The latter are ideal for filling or shading pigment. It is on the basis of these models that numerous modifications are built.

Round Liner (RL)

The needle is a round joint with the ends of thin elements brought together below. The number in the name of the needle indicates the number of elements soldered on one rod and it is this that affects the thickness of the line. The more needles in the solder, the thicker the contour strokes.

Most often, this type of needle is used when working with inscriptions or permanent makeup, which requires efficient drawing of small-sized elements. Any tattoo machine is suitable for this type of needle: an induction liner or a rotor set to a hard blow.

Round Shader (RS)

Loose needles. This soldering is most often used for painting over a design. Ideal for creating round parts. Both an induction shader and a rotary tattoo machine adjusted for a soft impact will work equally effectively with it.

Magnum

They are most in demand for shading pigment when coloring large areas of the skin in a single color. They are divided into types: M1 and M2. In the first soldering, the ends of the needles are arranged in a checkerboard pattern and are used for soft shading and creating shadows. An induction tattoo machine with a shader or a rotor with a soft impact is suitable for them. M2 is a double-row solder designed for deep and dense painting.

Round Magnum (RM)

The most gentle needles that cause minimal damage to the skin. Most often used for soft surface painting.

Flats (F; FS)

One of the favorite professional options. Allows you to change colors, create halftones and smooth color transitions. Thin elements in the solder are placed tightly in one row.

Whatever type of work the master does: full shading, drawing contour lines or creating shadows, it is necessary to choose the right tools that will improve the quality of the drawing without unnecessary difficulties. Each drawing technique involves the use of certain adhesions. For example, textured needles are more suitable for painting. Their disadvantage is severe damage skin, but the picture turns out more saturated and clear. And, of course, such needles absolutely cannot be used when performing permanent makeup. For this type of work, it is necessary to purchase thin needles that leave as few wounds as possible. Most often, a needle for these purposes is made from precious or semi-precious alloys: platinum, alloy steel or nickel.

Sterilization of tattoo needles

The most common method of processing needles used in production is gas sterilization. Disinfected needles are packaged in transparent blisters equipped with an indicator. Its presence indicates that sterilization has been carried out, and the information on the back will tell you about the period during which the needles will remain sterile. However, even after this period, the needles can be used if re-sterilized in an autoclave.

Manufacturers

Any workshop that produces tattoo machines also works on the production of component tools. Therefore, there is no point in singling out top needle manufacturers.

When choosing spare parts and equipment, it is better to select models of the same brand as the tattoo machine itself. In addition, most manufacturers popular with craftsmen make special sets, which in addition to the machine include everything necessary equipment, including a set of needles. This is an ideal choice for those who are just learning the art of body painting and do not yet have much work experience.

To make a tattoo beautiful, the correct selection of tools is important. The choice of needles is the most an important part in creating tattoos, since with their help you can apply clearer lines or completely paint an area.

The higher the quality of the material, the more the result will satisfy the customer. Tattoo machine needles have different diameters, as well as the way they are placed on the solder. The main thing is to choose the right tools to create the desired pattern so that it turns out beautiful and even.

Why is it important to choose multiple needles?

There are thinner and thicker lines in the drawing, and there are also moments when you need to clearly fill a certain area. For each moment you need your own needle, which will have a certain diameter for ease of application. The clarity of the final result depends on the variety of needles used.

Needles are mainly made from steel and nickel. Popular products of these tools are Tiptop and TrueStar. The needles can be placed differently at the base of the instrument and have their own individual cut.

Soldering allows you to make clearer lines or a smooth transition, and when completely filled, it will not leave gaps or, on the contrary, excessive pigmentation. Several needles can be located on one commissure, however, if the skin is very sensitive, we do not recommend using more than three needles.

Features of using needles

IN modern equipment To perform any tattoo, there is a special power and more than one needle can be installed. The tattoo machine is designed in such a way that the artist can quickly change the needles to those needed to perform any area without any problems. This makes the work faster, but of higher quality. The pigment will be applied evenly, and the lines will be drawn clearly.

Tattoo needles may differ in the type of sharpening. Based on this point, there are two main types:

  • long-tapered needle - ideal for drawing fine lines;
  • bullet-shaped needle - used to completely fill an area with color. This type of sharpening allows the paint to penetrate deep into the skin, and is also suitable for shading, smooth transitions and dense shading.

Needles for contour work

The final result of the work depends on how much paint is applied under the skin: depth of color, clarity of lines. If you carefully examine the needles, you can understand the characteristics of their varieties.

The important part in needles is sharpening and diameter. In order to complete a tattoo composition, the artist will need a whole set of needles, which he will change throughout the entire working process. For example, the 1RL needle has an elongated sharpening, which helps to apply a clear and bright outline. A more moderate sharpening in the needles helps with basic details and in order to better introduce the paint under the skin.

In order to figure out which needles are needed when making a certain pattern, you need to decide how thin the line should be. There is a series of needles - Round Liner, which will help you complete even the most complex elements of a tattoo. Manufacturers create a variety of soldering needles, so you can choose the right tool, which is suitable for a specific area of work.

How to choose the right number and diameter of needles

It's not as difficult as it might seem at first glance. The main thing is to pay attention to the number of needles enclosed in one solder and their diameter, which means the total group of needles in their soldered state around the main needle.

The needle diameters can be as follows:

  • size 6 = 0.2 mm;
  • size 8 = 0.25 mm;
  • size 10 = 0.30 mm;
  • size 12 = 0.35 mm.

The size of the needle depends on the diameter circumference. If you need more intense lines, a small diameter will do. The larger diameter allows you to paint large areas quickly and efficiently. Size 10 is most suitable for this.

Common Types of Tattoo Needles

In order to create a clear outline and fill in the required areas without gaps, you should carefully consider the selection, find out what types and classification of needles for tattoo machines exist.

You need to understand which needles are suitable for drawing lines evenly and which are not. For this case, for example, needles with a large diameter are not suitable. It is also worth paying attention to the choice of soldering. The number of needles located on it can reach several dozen.

There are main types:

  • Round Liner - the commissure is round, a set of needles at the end is gathered into a bundle. This allows you to apply a thin and clear line.
  • Round Shader - here the needles are arranged in parallel. This design is suitable for basic procedures, such as applying shadow or light lines.
  • Flats - the adhesion is sealed with several needles that are placed on close friend distance from each other, which allows you to perform alternating halftones, as well as many simple techniques.
  • Magnums - needles are collected in two rows. They exist in two variations:
  1. M1 (Weaved Mag) - checkerboard distribution, this type is suitable for smooth shading.
  2. M2 (Staked Mag) - is a classic look, which is executed in two rows. In order to densely paint over the details of a drawing, this type is ideal.

Whatever the complexity of the work, it is necessary to have an arsenal of several tools and accurately select the tools in order to do the job efficiently. A tattoo is a body design that remains for life, and in order to remove it, you can spend a lot of time and effort. Therefore, it is important to select certain types of needles for the appropriate technique.

Deep inking is important when injecting pigment deeply into the skin, and this requires textured needles. And if you need to do permanent makeup, you should choose thin needles with minimal impact on the skin.

Needles and adhesions are mainly made using an alloy of platinum and nickel. The main thing is that the needles are sterile, since this is close contact with the skin. The client must see that the needles have just been removed from the packaging and be confident that the procedure is safe.

Nowadays, special tattoo machines are mainly used. They are used with pressure (the instrument fits tightly to the skin) or with a gap (only the ends of the needles easily touch the body). The first electric tattoo machine in the form in which it is used today was invented by the American Samuel O'Reilly in 1891. It was called a “tattoograph”.

There are two types of machines: induction and rotary. Induction is most often found in tattoo parlors. Tool Coils Convert electrical energy into a magnetic one, they are magnetized and mutually attracted, causing the striker on which the holder with the needle is located to move at different speeds, creating pressure on the skin.

Rods with soldered needles of the sizes required by the master, prepared for a particular pattern, are attached to a tube with a holder. Needles come in different thicknesses and sharpenings, and have their own names - “one zero”, “two zeros” and so on.

Needles for tattoos and permanent makeup are made of alloy alloy steel, nickel and platinum. Depending on the number of turns on the coil (12, 14 or 16), the machines have different power; it is adjusted using a special clamping screw. A weakly pressed (as well as a tightly tightened) screw will not allow you to make a high-quality tattoo: the first one will not form a pattern, and the second one can even damage the skin.

Rotary cars

Rotary tattoo machines are widely used mainly by Russian tattoo artists. Such devices are used primarily for making rather complex body designs and drawing fine details of the ornament. In addition, permanent makeup is done using rotary machines.

The principle of operation of tattoo machines of the first type is as follows: the rotary mechanism, making rotational movements, activates the needles connected to it, which in turn make reciprocating movements and make punctures on the skin. The speed of rotation of the rotor and the force of the blow applied by the needles are adjusted by setting a special lever to the desired mark. Thanks to this design feature, the dye can be introduced to a certain depth of the epidermis, which allows you to create a uniformly colored pattern.

Rotary machines work on the principle of sewing: the needle is up and down - and you won’t pull the fabric out from under it(in our case, skin) until the end of the working cycle. Their power is 5-10 watts. Only the frequency of movement of the needles can be adjusted using the stroke regulator. Rotors (the latest developments are turborotors from German companies) are also available to permanent makeup artists, since permanent makeup requires meticulous elaboration of the contour.

When applying a body pattern with a rotary tattoo machine, the artist must ensure that the needles are directed strictly vertically to the surface of the skin. Any deviation from this position after the procedure may result in some complications - for example, an inflammatory process on the skin; in addition, the wounds from needle punctures will take a longer time to heal.

It is known from history that from the early 1980s to the end of the 1990s, Taiwanese machines (and needles) for permanent makeup conquered the world. By the way, many people still use them.

At the end of the 1990s, latest developments devices for permanent makeup, for example "Magic Liner Purebeau", consisting of a power supply and mode settings, as well as pedals from Germany, which allow you to offer more high quality procedures than before. Or ergonomic in design (titanium case), miniature (length 8 centimeters, weight 53 grams), fast-acting, preserving features professional tools European models of the Stilus or Challenge brand with a specially designed adapter tube for plastic disposable nozzles and the ability to work with any type of needle.

High quality is ensured, in particular, by the frequency of needle movements(more than 11,000 per minute), the absence of lateral vibrations of the needle that injure the skin, precise adjustment of operating modes with touch control and digital display of parameters. Pay attention to the original needles (1-prong, 2 pieces - 2.2 USD, 2-prong, 2 pieces - 8.5 USD, 5-prong, 2 pieces - 9.9 USD .e.) and universal reusable sterilizable caps (1 piece - 7.5 cu.) with the ability to simultaneously use two pens with different needles and pigments.

Induction machines

They are activated due to the oscillatory movements of the striker installed in the apparatus. Transmitted vibrations cause the needles to make translational movements vertically, accompanied by punctures of the skin.

pros

  • High speed
  • Constant puncture force
  • Same frequency of needle movements
  • The drawing is smooth and clear
  • It doesn't hurt

Two operating modes

  • with a clamp (the working part of the needle extends a short distance, the tube is almost completely pressed against the surface of the skin, which does not allow the specialist to control the depth of immersion of the needle)
  • with a small gap (work is carried out only with the tip of the needle, while the master can visually control the degree of its immersion into the skin; this method is reminiscent of the line drawing technique with pen or ink)

Universal cars

There are also universal machines, the speed of which is regulated on the power supply, and the power is regulated by a clamping screw.

Many models of tattoo machines are made in the USA, for example, Unimax, WASP, Flag s, Flames, Viper, Skull, Time Machine, in England Micky Sharpz, in Russia “Black Dwarf”, “Kaluga” and so on.

Power supplies are different. Their power, like that of Flames, is up to 20 watts. You also need a pedal with a “clip-cord” wire (from 15 USD).

Components of machines - which part works and how

The basis of the entire tattoo machine is the frame. It is made of steel(sometimes bronze or aluminum is used). The shapes of frames for tattoo machines can be very different, the main thing is that it is comfortable for you to hold in your hand. The spring helps the tool move, closes the electrical circuit and returns the striker to its original position.

There are many types of attachments for different needle sizes, the thickness of which “ranges from 0.25 to 0.4 mm. The thinnest ones - 0.25 mm or “000” according to the tattoo catalog - are used in contour beams, for example in “treshki”, when three needles are tightly soldered together to apply the outline of the design.

Another option is to solder the needles with a flat comb, forming a so-called “flat”, with the help of which shadows are created.

The sharpening point of such needles is most often long, why do they resemble a sharply sharpened pencil?. Thanks to this, the needle easily penetrates the skin and even with rapid movements leaves a neat trace of very small dots. You need to know that thin needles require professional handling.

Touching a foreign object or careless movement can damage both the sharpener and the leather. Needles of medium thickness - 0.3 mm or “00” - are used for the production of filling beams, such as “treshka”, “five”, “eight”. They are also sharpened “like a pencil”, but here the sharpening is shorter than that of thin needles. On the skin, such needles leave larger dots and even shading without gaps.

The thickest needles - 0.35-0.4 mm or “0” - go to the “unit”, which is used to outline the outline of the picture, as well as to the “flat” for painting large surfaces. In addition, they are used for permanent makeup, where the needle must leave the largest possible dots on the surface of the skin. Thick needles are most often sharpened to resemble a bullet. They are the most resistant to external influences.

Inside the attachments there is a needle holder during operation.

For rotary and induction machines, the speed (frequency) of needle movement plays a decisive role. High frequency for both types of machines is used when drawing contours, the smaller one is for coloring and shadow shading.

Needles for permanent makeup and tattoos differ not only in thickness and sharpening shape, but also in length. For rotary machines that work exclusively with the face, small needles 5 cm long are most often used. This can be either a “one” or a multiple needle, when several more needles are soldered to the sharp end - so, let us recall, “two-pieces” are formed, “ three rubles, fives. The length of the free working edge here is approximately 2 mm. These needles are sold already soldered, sterile and packaged in craft bags. The master can only open the package, insert the needle into a special mount(“collet”) of your machine, connect it to the network and start working.

Tattoo needles are somewhat different from permanent makeup needles. They are longer. The required number of needles selected by the master for a specific job is soldered onto a special rod ("bar") 12-12.5 cm long. For better results, a special device is used here - a soldering cube, which is used to form a certain bunch of needles for soldering on the rod. The cubes are made of plastic. They have several holes of different diameters. Depending on which hole the craftsman collects the needles in, you can get contour or paint beams of different diameters.

But first, the beam itself is formed, treating it with orthophosphoric acid, then using silver solder (more precisely, tin with a large percentage silver). After this, the bundle is soldered onto a rod. The length of the free working end of a body needle varies from 2 to 5 mm, depending on its purpose.

Masters say that some use several machines, others use universal ones, depending on the task at hand. It is important to customize any machine to your liking and be able to configure it. The instrument is checked, for example, like this: it is plugged in, the pedal is pressed, and it should work without interruption for about a day. If everything goes smoothly, then it’s normal. If not, then you shouldn't even use it. The artist needs to have several tattoo machines of different brands, feel their vibration and the contact of the needles with the client’s body.

During the procedure, specialists usually use several pre-prepared rods with needles. The rods are made of a special medical alloy. They have a long service life. Straight rods require a wrench.

You will also need brushes, made from durable artificial bristles, for cleaning hard-to-reach places in the tube before sterilization. Rubber bands made from high quality rubber. They are indispensable for firmly fixing the bar on the tattoo machine and for reducing vibration of the needle during the tattooing process. To avoid placing the machine on the table while working, use special plastic or metal stands.

A stand for caps with paint is indispensable when a tattoo artist is working, as well as spatulas - disposable wooden devices that resemble a stick, which doctors use to look at a patient’s throat. In tattoo parlors, spatulas are used to remove Vaseline from a container, which is used to treat the areas of the body where the tattoo will be located. There are no trifles in a tattoo. You should get used to the tattoo machine, understand whether your hand is “light” or “heavy”. Depending on this, choose from the above types of machines.

Markers

Special markers are designed for applying temporary body designs. Depending on the client’s skin type and the frequency of water treatments, tattoos made using such tools remain on the skin for only 3-5 days.

The highest quality and most widely used in tattoo parlors is the EDDING-45 tattoo marker, which is a device with a brush tip. To operate, they require high-quality ink that meets high hygienic requirements. Using such a marker, you can apply various designs on the body from clear, neat lines 0.1-0.4 cm thick. You can also use it to create bright body patterns.

Pencils for tattooing and sketching are available in several colors - black, brown, blue, green, orange, and a wide selection of shades of these colors is offered.

Tattoo pencils

There are two types of tattoo pencils. The first ones have a device similar to a regular felt-tip pen - when the dye enters the reservoir, the soft tip of the pencil is saturated, with which the pattern is applied. Pencils of the second type have a hard tip, which requires constant wetting with a special composition; This tool requires more time to operate.

Patterns applied to the skin using special pencils resemble the quality of mehndi tattoos, but differ from them in the effect of transparency and shorter lifespan on the body. In order for such decoration to last longer, it needs to be renewed daily. An unsuccessful pattern can be easily removed the very next day after the procedure.

Rules for working with tattoo pencils

  • When finishing work, you should cover the pencil with a cap, which will prevent it from drying out.
  • You need to work with a pencil very carefully, trying not to damage its tip, otherwise the paint will flow unevenly, which will immediately affect the quality of the applied image.

Tattoo tube

It is on this detail that the quality of the design applied to the body depends - the evenness of its contours, the smoothness of tonal and light-and-shadow transitions, the artistic expressiveness of the image.

The tube is a container in the form of a hollow metal tube with a diameter of up to 0.8 cm and a length of 5 to 13 cm. A holder handle with a diameter of 12-35 cm, made of aluminum, titanium or surgical steel, is attached to this tube at one end, and at the other end - tip. This design can be one-piece or dismountable (in the latter case, replaceable tips are attached to the handle-holder, the choice of which depends on the complexity of the work being performed.

After use, each tube is subjected to mandatory cleaning, for which the instrument is placed in a special “Ultrasonic” installation, in which, under the influence of directed ultrasonic waves, particles of the remaining coloring matter are removed with a special alkaline composition. After cleaning, at the same time as the instrument is disinfected, the tube is washed with cool water, packaged in a craft bag and kept for some time in a dry-heat oven at a temperature of 140 ° C. Then the sterile instruments, sealed in a craft bag, are placed for storage in an ultraviolet sterilizer.

Tubes intended for devices used for applying permanent makeup are usually made of heat-resistant plastic. As a rule, such tubes are disposable and outwardly resemble similar devices for performing artistic tattooing. Sometimes permanent makeup tubes are made in the shape of a cone.

Tube dyes - tattoo inks

The process of tattooing is the introduction of dyes into the upper layers of the skin, which are absorbed by special macrophage cells, making it impossible for the dyes to penetrate into the deeper layers of the epidermis.

The active work of macrophage cells also explains the absence of an allergic reaction to dyes on the skin decorated with body patterns. And compliance with certain sanitary and hygienic standards and the high professionalism of the tattoo artist significantly reduce the risk of developing any diseases after the procedure, making it practically safe for human health.

For a long time in Russia, ordinary drawing ink was used for tattooing. The result of this was the monochromatic nature of body designs and their fragility. After just a few years, the ornament, made with drawing ink, lost the clarity of its lines, and over time it generally turned into an unaesthetic blurry spot.

In the countries of the East, where the art of tattooing has been extremely popular since ancient times, multi-colored coloring compositions based on mineral pigments (iron oxide, copper oxide or titanium oxide) were used to create body ornaments and patterns. However, over time, such tattoos also became less bright and lost their former clarity of contours.

Currently, the range of ink compositions for tattoos offered by manufacturers is unusually wide - inks of various colors and shades are produced (red, blue, yellow, green, violet-purple, orange) intended for long-term body jewelry and temporary tattoos.

How not to make mistakes when choosing quality paint

Corrective procedure in last years became so popular that it was even separated into a special direction in tattoo art, called cover up. Today, professional tattoo artists prefer in their work paints containing metal salts, as well as dyes that contain a small amount of plastic-based components.

But it should be noted that many manufacturers, fearing growing competition, keep secret the elements included in the dyes used for body painting. And yet, the research conducted has made it possible to establish that one of the most important components of coloring compositions for tattooing is a liquid that has disinfecting properties and dissolves skin pigment well.

Sanitary and hygienic standards recognize the following substances as the safest for use during the tattoo procedure: propylene glycol, ethyl alcohol, glycerin, Listerine and distilled water. Note that the addition of glycerin and propylene glycol makes dyes more durable.

Concluding the conversation about modern coloring compositions for tattoos, it must be said that, despite all their advantages, some dyes can pose some danger to human health.

Thus, there are known cases when individual components of coloring compositions introduced into the skin caused serious disruptions in the functioning of certain organs and systems of the human body, and also became the cause of allergic and phototoxic reactions.

Plastic-based paints are especially dangerous for people prone to allergies. And luminescent paints are recognized as the most toxic and radioactive.

To avoid such troubles and prevent the development of a particular disease, before visiting a tattoo parlor you should consult with an experienced doctor, and also do allergy tests.

At positive results samples and negative feedback from a specialist about the patient’s intentions, it is better to refuse a tattoo.

Tube tips

There are two types of tube tips - solid molded, with a handle, and removable. On its narrowest part there are holes of different sizes and different shapes. The choice of hole directly depends on what kind of needles the master uses. Most often, craftsmen use holes in their work that correspond to the diameter of two needles. And one more thing - the most commonly used holes are those that correspond to a round bunch of needles.

If the holes are shaped like a diamond or a beveled trapezoid, then they are used in combination with flat bundles of needles. The tip must strictly fix the needles. And this is the main requirement for him. This is necessary so that the needles do not vibrate when the master works with them. If there is no vibration, the pattern is smooth and clear.

Every tip has a hole oval shape. What is it for? This hole is made from the side of the tube. It ensures free entry and circulation of air inside the tube. This helps the coloring composition to pass through the tube well and without problems, without splashing or foaming.

A tube tip is considered good if it provides rigid fixation of the needles. This allows you to prevent vibration during operation of the tattoo machine and create clear, even contours of the body design.

Tattoo needles

Using a needle, a puncture is made in the skin and a special dye solution of a certain color and shade is injected into its upper layer (epidermis).

Only a few metal rods connected together, pointed at the ends, while others have bronze awls with double tips.

Today, needles intended for tattooing are made of a stainless alloy (nickel, alloy steel, platinum). A special sharpening (at one end the needle is sharpened “to resemble a bullet”) facilitates rapid penetration of the needle tip under the skin without causing serious injury and allows the largest amount of coloring composition to be introduced deep into the epidermis.

Tattoo artists use needles of different lengths and thicknesses in their work (from 1 to 24; magnum series needles are also popular). Typically, professionals work with 1-3 needles, using them to draw the outline of the image and make small patterns. In the same way, drawings are applied to areas of the body that are characterized by increased sensitivity. To create permanent makeup, long needles sharpened in a special way are used, allowing the dye to be injected into the skin to the maximum depth.

Currently, some tattoo parlors use not only ordinary needles, but also entire systems, each with from 2-3 to 8-14 needles. Typically, in such designs, the needles are soldered in a checkerboard pattern in two rows (magnum series) or placed in a circle.

The use of soldered needles allows you to apply the dye evenly along the contour of the pattern, while the dye does not penetrate very deeply into the skin, and no injury to the epidermis occurs. As a rule, with the help of needle tattoo systems, light, fairly even shading is done, and soldered needles are used even on areas that are difficult to apply body designs, for example, on the eyelids and lips.

It should be noted that working with soldered needles involves the use of fairly powerful tattoo machines, which will be discussed below. But, looking ahead, we note that rotary machines are less powerful compared to induction tattoo machines, but the undeniable advantage of the former is their lower susceptibility to vibration, which is of no small importance for applying smooth, clear lines to the skin.

Professional craftsmen think in advance about how many needles they will need for their work (the number of needles depends on the complexity of the body pattern) and prepare a certain set of tools. Note that most artists prefer to make their own tattoo needles that meet all modern sanitary and hygienic requirements. From needles industrial production preference is given to disposable ones, which are sterile and hygienic. The fact is that the use of reusable needles in work involves a fairly long subsequent processing: needles in mandatory disinfected in a special solution, then washed with running water, dried, packaged in a craft bag and kept for 1.5-2 hours in an autoclave or dry-heat oven at a temperature of about 130 ° C.
