Crocheted elastic bands. Crochet elastic band in the round: let’s look at all the nuances. How to tie an elastic band. Easy way

Friends, do you know how to crochet an elastic band? Honestly, I haven’t crocheted an elastic band before... well, there was no such need... So the topic of our meeting today is the crochet elastic pattern.

Today I will show you how to knit this pattern.... By the way, this is a real crochet elastic band... Yes, yes... exactly real... because... This sample fully fits the definition of a rubber band)))

Try it, link it and see for yourself)))

First of all, we knit a chain of air loops... For those who don’t know how to do this, there is an article on the blog - check it out))) Let's now look at the structure of the chain... We haven't done this yet)))

The chain consists of air loops, and each loop, in turn, has front and back walls. The front wall is the part of the loop that is closer to you, and the back wall, accordingly, is further from you. There is also a thread under the chain, I don’t know what it’s called, in traditional Russian knitting it is very rarely used, let’s call it a bottom broach or a jumper... By the way, when you and I were knitting with Tunisian crochet, the posts were made from this broach)))
so, in the first row we will insert the hook into this lower broach-jumper... we will knit the elastic itself . It should be noted that, again, knitting with connecting stitches is “not our method”))). A similar technique is typical for, but more on that later...

Crochet elastic - how to knit

So, for example, we knit a chain of 10 VP + 1 VP rise and make a SS in the broach, then in each subsequent broach we make a SS to the end of the row... We get a wonderful lace, which we can easily use in the future for knitting, for example, booties))). but that’s for later))), and today we plan to crochet an elastic band, so we continue...

We turn the knitting, make a VP of lifting and knit the second row... In the second row, as in all subsequent rows, we ALWAYS knit the connecting posts behind the BACK WALL of the loop, i.e. for a piece of the loop that is further from us)))
After two rows you will get a pattern like this...
After 3 of these... Knit 8-10 rows in this way))) This is what you should get...
This pattern is transverse... That is, if you decide to knit a scarf, you will have to pick up loops along the long side of the scarf)))

Today I will tell you how to crochet an elastic band for beginners, I will show you a diagram and a photo with detailed description. We recently learned how to do it, and now we will tie an elastic band, by the way, I showed how and. I hope you can learn this too, let’s get started.

Crocheted elastic is not so common among needlewomen due to its rigidity, but for some products it is better to use it to give a solid shape. It is, in essence, an alternation of front convex embossed double crochets with purl concave ones. Let's look at how to crochet an elastic band in 1x1 steps.

To get started, let's crochet 22 simple chain stitches (the number must be even) and knit the first row with the most common double crochet stitch. Taking into account the lifting loops, we get 20 columns.

For symmetry and a straight edge, at the end of the first row we knit two airy, ordinary lifting loops. Turn the knitting and start the second row.

We chain the double crochet of the previous row, exactly from the front side and always from right to left.

And we knit the first relief stitch and it will turn out to be a convex front column.

The first relief front column is there.

And now we will insert the hook from the other wrong side and from left to right, with a stitch of the first row. We knitted this with a purl concave stitch.

Once again we knit a purl concave stitch.

This is what it looks like, fully knitted.

The first row of crocheted elastic is ready.

In the same way, carefully knit the second row, making 2 air loops of general lifting at the end, and turn the knitting. And we continue knitting in the same way according to the pattern presented above.

This is what a rubber band looks like: crocheted 1x1. In a similar way, you can also knit an elastic band in steps of 2x2, 1x2 and many other options.
At circular knitting(for example, hats) the braids of the elastic band itself turn out smoother and prettier.

We also knitted and much more. Train and you will be a master in this industry.

Crocheted horizontal rib is not an imitation of elastic, but a truly elastic knit. In addition, it is very neat and dense.

When knitting in the round there are slight changes to the knitting pattern - more on that below.

How to knit in the round:

Not best option, but if you can’t do without it, then you can do it like this:
1st row:
just like with regular knitting.
At the end of the row, make one air loop for lifting.
2nd row:
the columns are knitted with a grip front loop walls of the previous row.

But when crocheted in the round, almost all patterns come out smoother. This one is no exception. In a red oval there are rows connected in a circle.
!!! The pattern turns out to be one-sided and the “rubber band” pattern is formed only on the wrong side.

Photo 9.

To preserve the pattern, you can knit a little differently - pseudo in a circle:
in this photo a) and b) are pictures of how you can switch from flat knitting to circular knitting - connect the first and last loops with a half-stitch.
if knitting in the round is just beginning,
connect the chain of the first row into a ring, knit the first row with single crochets, make air. lifting loop
Further, regardless of the beginning:
c) turn the knitting over and knit along inside single crochets behind the far wall.
d) knit the last loop of the row on the inside together with the air loop of the same row caught on the hook.
make another air loop for lifting, turn the knitting over and knit single crochets again behind the back wall of the loops of the previous row. The place where the rows begin is very neat, and knitting along the inside of even a very narrow “pipe” is not at all difficult.

Rubber crocheted- it's not just cute relief pattern, A important part products that have certain functional features. Elastic is an important component of most models knitted clothes: sweaters, hats, skirts, mittens, socks. It is responsible for the elasticity of some elements of the product, while the dense woven structure allows you to maintain this function for a long time. Moreover, crocheted elastic bands are considered more accurate and elastic than knitted elastic bands.

Even this, at first glance, simple crochet pattern has its own knitting features, each of which allows you to achieve a different pattern on the elastic band as a result. In turn, each method of crocheting elastic assumes a different degree of elasticity and relief. To make it easier for beginning craftswomen to understand this, you need to familiarize yourself with the working technique and knitting patterns.

Crochet elastic band - diagram and description

There are several ways to crochet an elastic band. Some of them are more complex to perform, others are woven quickly and simply, it all depends on the knitter’s ideas, abilities and desires. Here are the most useful variations of crocheting elastic bands:

  1. Weaving an elastic band by alternating convex and concave double crochets;
  2. Creating an elastic band using single crochets in the back half loop;
  3. Crochet elastic bands in half columns for the back half loop;
  4. Weaving with double crochets for the back half loop;
  5. Knitting elastic bands with connecting stitches.

As you can see, you can crochet elastic bands of the standard type 1×1, 2×2, and by alternating purl and front embossed stitches you can get elastic bands 1×2, 1×3, 3×3 and others. Let's take a closer look at the methods of knitting some of them.

Knitting technique and pattern

Helps inexperienced knitters get to the heart of the matter step by step instructions crochet elastic band. One of the easiest rubber bands to make is considered 1×1.

Crochet elastic pattern 1×1

We cast on an even number of loops, insert the hook into the 4th loop of the chain from the hook and knit the first row with regular double crochets.

The embossed double crochets correspond to 2 lifting air loops. Therefore, at the end of the 1st row we knit 2 vpp, turn the sample over and start knitting 2nd row(photo 1, fig. 1).

We insert the hook from the front side from right to left, under the double crochet of the previous row (Fig. 2) and knit a relief (convex) double crochet (Fig. 3), then we insert the hook from the wrong side from right to left, clasping the leg of the double crochet the previous row (Fig. 4) and knit a relief purl (concave) double crochet (photo 2, Fig. 1).

Photo 1: Crocheting 1×1 elastic band

At the end of the 2nd row we knit 2 vpp, turn the sample over and start knitting the 3rd row (Fig. 3).

3rd row we knit similarly to the 2nd one, alternating the embossed front (convex) double crochet (Fig. 4) and the embossed purl (concave) double crochet (Fig. 5) then we knit the elastic similarly “according to the picture” (photo 3, Fig. 1) . The crocheted elastic band is ready (Fig. 2).

Thus, they work according to the elastic pattern with alternating 2 embossed front stitches and 2 embossed purl double crochets. This elastic band turns out to be dense. In addition to this option, there is also a way to crochet a softer and more flexible 2x2 elastic band, if between raised columns knit air loops according to the following pattern:

A video lesson will help you consolidate the theory of crocheting elastic bands, shown in photo lessons and diagrams. Now that all the details have been studied, you should definitely try crocheting one or two types of elastic bands.

Video lesson for beginners “crocheting elastic bands”

Hello dear friends and guests of the blog “We create - don’t be lazy!” Today I want to introduce you to another interesting, in my opinion, pattern - this is a crochet elastic pattern, not a simple one, but a faceted one, and I also want to offer you a description of its knitting... In fact, I have no idea what this pattern is called...

This crochet elastic pattern is another false elastic that only appearance it looks like it, and, moreover, it looks like a faceted rubber band knitted. But, unfortunately, in my understanding, this pattern does not have the qualities inherent in elastic bands at all...Nevertheless, the crochet elastic band pattern is not only spectacular in appearance, but also easy to knit... Faceted crochet elastic band is also very inappropriate regular pattern... What? Execution technique!)))

You know, I keep trying to write a general article about the initial basic techniques of crocheting... and it still doesn’t work out... because I constantly find something new for myself that I’ve never encountered before in crocheting, or I’ve encountered, but for some reason I didn’t pay attention to this information deserves due attention...

The faceted elastic crochet pattern is a vivid example of how much I still don’t know... and can’t do...

Okay, enough words, let's get down to business...

Crochet elastic pattern - description of knitting

To knit this pattern we will need the ability to knit chain stitches and half double crochets. For those who have forgotten how to knit these techniques, I advise you to look at the articles “” and “”

So, for the sample, we cast on any number of air loops (in my case - 20) + 2 chain stitches for lifting and knit the entire first row with half-columns. Then the fun begins...

We will also knit the second and subsequent rows with half-columns, not forgetting about 2 VP lifts at the beginning of each row, but!

Pay attention to where we will insert the hook when knitting!

Remember, when we knitted, we looked at the structure of the loop - the front wall, the back wall and the broach... So, when knitting stitches, in this example of half double crochets, along the upper edge of the knitted fabric, the front, back walls and broach are also formed at the loops ( on the left side of the canvas).

Take a close look at your knitting... (see photo below)

In the second and subsequent rows when knitting half-columns, the hook must be inserted precisely under the broach (from top to bottom)

Knit the second row...

And you will see how a scar in the form of a pigtail is formed...

And after you knit several rows, the pattern itself will appear - a faceted crocheted elastic band...

I used exactly this technique - inserting a hook under the broach - when crocheting an orchid with a Tunisian crochet. You can watch the Master Class

By the way, you can crochet faceted elastic in another way... If you insert the hook all the time under the front part of the loop (from bottom to top), the result will be the same.
Choose a convenient method for yourself)))

For those who “love with their eyes”, below is a video on crocheting this elastic band... watch)))
