Matchbox box step by step

Remove the matches from the boxes. Remove the insides of the boxes and set them aside.

Glue the 4 outer parts of the box together. Do the same with the rest of the boxes. Get 8 blanks for the box. In order not to hold each part with your hands while the glue is drying, you can place a wooden kitchen board on the glued pieces; under moderate pressure they will stick together better.

Glue the 3 pieces together on the sides. Press well and wait for the glue to set.

Vertically glue 2 more pieces from the boxes.

Glue the 3 remaining pieces together with their sides again. Glue all 8 pieces of the box together so that the edges form a smooth rectangle. It is very important that the shells of the boxes fit evenly against each other.

Draw a rectangle 11 x 14 cm on thick paper. Cut out 2 identical shapes.

Glue the rectangles to the base and top of the future box. This way you will better hold the elements together and prepare a white background for further work.

On light green scrapbooking paper with a pale pattern, draw a rectangle 11 x 14 cm on back side. Cut out the piece that will cover the top of the piece.

Cut out rectangular template pictures of a sewing machine.

From paper with roses, cut out a rectangle 1.5 cm larger in height and width than the picture.

Cut out the template with beautiful inscription and 3 rectangular elements of different sizes from ready-made borders for scrapbooking.

Glue the largest parts onto the light green cutout, as in the photo.

Glue a picture in the center of the pink rectangle.

Glue the inscription and 2 more small clippings.

Measure the “sides” with a ruler. If using standard matchboxes, they will measure 5 x 5 cm.

On the back of the light green paper, draw a 5 x 5 cm square.

Cut out 4 green squares.

Cut out picture templates to decorate the “sides”.

Glue small pictures in the center of the squares.

Draw on the back of the green paper new part– rectangle 1X 3.5 cm.

Cut out 32 small rectangles with different designs from borders and paper in pale greens, blues, pinks and beige.

On each inside of the box, glue one colored rectangle onto one of the small edges.

Sew a peach colored bead to the inside of the box on the outside of the glued piece. Make punctures with a large needle, and sew on the bead with a small beading needle.

Sew beads onto all the cells of the box, securing the thread from the inside with a double knot.

On sewing machine stitch the edges of each side piece. Separately stitch the edges of the designs.

Sew small details around the perimeter. Then hem the visible edges of the larger pieces and hem the edges of the entire piece.

Pull all the threads to the wrong side with a needle, secure with knots and trim off the excess edges.

Glue the stitched top blank onto the box.

Glue the “sides”.

Insert all the decorated cells into the box.

On the surface of the box, glue small branches with artificial berries in the upper left corner.

Glue artificial flowers in the corner on top of two branches to form a small, delicate bouquet.

Glue small flowers into the free corners. Glue white beads into the center of the fabric flowers.

The finished box can be immediately filled with beads, pins, needles and small buttons. Now all the little things of the needlewoman will be in perfect order. If you decide to use the box for permanent storage of certain types of beads or buttons, you can sew these small elements directly onto the cells.
