When is geologist's day? Geologist Day in Russia Why is this holiday important?

The professional holiday of geologists was established in the Soviet Union, but today the tradition is preserved in many CIS countries. First Geologist's Day celebrated in 1966 in accordance with the Decree of the Presidium of the USSR Armed Forces.

The initiator of the establishment of Geologist Day was A.L. Yanshin, Academician of the USSR Academy of Sciences. On this day, it was customary to celebrate the outstanding achievements of Soviet specialists working in the field of geology. In the year the holiday was founded, this occasion was the discovery of the oil and gas bearing region of Western Siberia.

In the Soviet Union, geology was given great importance, and this industry developed dynamically. In 1919, the Central Industrial Exploration Directorate was created for the centralized management of all geological exploration work, and in 1922 it was merged with the Geological Committee, which was established as the main geological institution in Tsarist Russia in 1882. Since 1947, all geological work has been led by the specially created Ministry of Geology.

The first Russian geological institution, which was created in 1700 by Peter I to carry out prospecting and exploration work, was the order of mining affairs. It was then transformed into the Berg College in 1719, and in 1807 the Mining Department was created on its basis.

Geologist's Day celebration date

The decree established that Soviet geologists would celebrate their professional holiday annually in April, on the first Sunday. That's why Geologist Day 2019 will be celebrated April 7.

The timing of the celebration was not chosen by chance. By the beginning of spring, in geology the results of the past year are summed up, and preparation period for new geological exploration expeditions and prospecting work. According to the traditions of the Soviet period, on the eve of the professional holiday, leading industry specialists are awarded and encouraged.

Today the tradition has been preserved, and the holiday is celebrated not only in Russia, but also in most CIS countries: in Belarus, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan. Corresponding decrees were issued by governments in Russia in 2013, and in Ukraine in 1993.

Which professions celebrate Geologist's Day?

This day is celebrated by all specialists associated with geology and the study of the earth's interior:

  • hydrogeologists who study the occurrence of aquifers;
  • geophysicists who are engaged, in particular, in seismic exploration, gravimetry, magnetic exploration, well testing, etc.;
  • mine sinkers;
  • geomorphologists, whose field of activity is the study of deep processes in the earth's crust that form the relief;
  • surveyors who monitor compliance with project requirements for field development and carry out appropriate measurements;
  • geochemists, etc.

All these professions are associated with the study of the earth's interior, exploration and extraction of natural resources, so Geologist's Day is a holiday for representatives of all of these specialties.

Happy Geologist's Day, guys!
I congratulate you from the bottom of my heart,
You love your profession
I wish you your glorious one.

Interesting expeditions
I wish you now
Let the excitement never go away
Your smart, kind eyes.

We send our heartfelt greetings to the brave geologist
Today this is a greeting:
Let him help him decide in life
Magic scarf problems!
So that, just thinking out a wish out loud,
He could wave that handkerchief, -
And immediately a friend would appear in front of him,
And I would help move mountains!
We wish the geologist many victories,
And so that he always knows the answer to a question!

The bowels of the earth will open up,
I welcome your perseverance,
And you will find other wonderful secrets,
What the folds of the mantle hid.

You bravely follow them up the mountain,
You descend into the darkness of the gorge,
Fight! Search! You repeat your motto
And you move further towards your goal...

And even if on an expedition somewhere far away,
Smelling of fire smoke,
You will sing a song with a guitar about the difficult
Geologist of life. And past
Crazy winds will sweep you by.
Stuck on the tops of the pine trees
They are our big congratulations
Happy Geologist's Day!

Congratulations, dear friends,
Happy wonderful event to you,
Happy holiday - Geologist's Day,
What came as a inspiration.

Our mother planet Earth,
Such a one keeps a reserve in the depths,
How many raw materials have you found?
And how many will you find for us?

From the bottom of our hearts we wish:
Your dreams come true,
Heights imaginable and unimaginable,
May you achieve achievements.

Your path is both painstaking and long,
But the goal surrenders before you;
Be lucky, because you are a geologist,
Nationwide hero!

Riches are created with you,
The depths are filled day after day;
Thanks to your work
We find out the good news.

Fun, happiness and moreover
Large bills have a pleasant crunch;
Your profession needs you -
Don't be empty at heart.

You found so many ores for us,
I know that this work is not easy.
How much land have you covered on foot?
How many roads have you trampled with your boots!

You were able to reach the source
You were able to find fossils.
You are doing this for your entire country,
I wish you happy, long days!

The geologist and I know each other:
It's a pity we couldn't see
How the gnomes bring it to you
All the treasures of the earth.

Scattering stones again
They will fall at your feet
And as before, with impatience
The distant taiga awaits.

And today with "Hurray"
There, around the bend somewhere
Everything will be revealed by gems
Copper Mountain for you.

What do we know about Earth?
It gets cold in September.
In the spring, grass will grow on it...
She cries through lava.

There is great science about it,
But it's not easy for everyone.
If you want to know everything about the Earth,
It would be nice to become a geologist.

The profession is held in high esteem.
They have all their mineral resources registered.
And in search of new breeds,
They will dig up the garden.

And I'm lucky like no one else.
I had to communicate myself
With a geologist whose experience was growing,
Creating demand for knowledge.

Today I wish him:
Leaving knowledge behind
On this Earth under your patronage
Take a walk and honk your horn!

Everyone has chosen an important path in life,
And he tries to achieve success in it.
One of the difficult ones chose labor,
We wish everyone success.

Today is a clear April day,
The number is eighth, your holiday.
And despite this holiday -
You with backpacks on your back
You are going on a long journey.
Without being at home for a long time,
Living in tents by the fire,
You stand in the service of the country,
Finding a lot of discoveries.
On your holiday we wish you -
Be more often at home and with family,
Love, health and good luck!
And a bunch of kids to boot!

is a near-Earth object with a diameter of about 30 meters. It was discovered on August 29, 2006, when it was at a distance of 4.5 million km. from our planet. Scientists observed the celestial body for 10 days, after which the asteroid was no longer visible through telescopes.

Based on such a short observation period, it is impossible to accurately determine the distance at which asteroid 2006 QV89 will approach the Earth on September 09, 2019, since the asteroid has not been observed since then (since 2006). Moreover, according to various estimates, the object may approach our planet not on the 9th, but on another date in September 2019.

As for whether 2006 QV89 will collide with Earth on September 9, 2019 or not - the likelihood of a collision is extremely low.

Thus, the Sentry System (developed by the JPL Center for NEO Studies) shows that the probability of a body colliding with the Earth is 1:9100 (those. about one ten thousandth of a percent).

The European Space Agency (ESA) estimates the chance of an asteroid crossing its orbit with our planet as 1 in 7300 (0,00014 % ). ESA ranked the 2006 QV89 4th among celestial bodies posing a potential danger to the Earth. According to the agency, the exact time of “flight” of the body on September 9, 2019 is 10:03 Moscow time.

In both Orthodoxy and Catholicism, Easter always falls on Sunday.

Easter 2020 is preceded by Lent, which begins 48 days before Happy holiday. And after 50 days they celebrate Trinity.

Popular pre-Christian customs that have survived to this day include dyeing eggs, making Easter cakes and curd Easter cakes.

Easter treats are blessed in the church on Saturday, the eve of Easter 2020, or after the service on the day of the Holiday itself.

We should greet each other on Easter with the words “Christ is Risen,” and respond with “Truly He is Risen.”

This will be the fourth game for the Russian team in this qualifying tournament. Let us remind you that in the previous three meetings, Russia “at the start” lost to Belgium with a score of 1:3, and then won two dry victories - over Kazakhstan (4:0) and over San Marino (9:0). The last victory was the largest in the entire existence of the Russian football team.

As for the upcoming meeting, according to bookmakers, the Russian team is the favorite in it. The Cypriots are objectively weaker than the Russians, and the islanders cannot expect anything good from the upcoming match. However, we must take into account that the teams have never met before, and therefore unpleasant surprises may await us.

The Russia-Cyprus meeting will take place on June 11, 2019 In Nizhniy Novgorod at the stadium of the same name, built for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Start of the match - 21:45 Moscow time.

Where and what time do the national teams of Russia and Cyprus play:
* Venue of the match - Russia, Nizhny Novgorod.
* Game start time is 21:45 Moscow time.

In Russia, Geologist Day is celebrated on the first Sunday in April. In 2020, the holiday takes place on April 5th.

Timed to coincide with the holiday special events, where workers in the geological industry are awarded certificates and diplomas. Thematic exhibitions and concerts are held. Geological specialists are engaged in planning expeditions and prospecting work.

history of the holiday

The holiday arose after the discovery by geologists of the oil and gas region of Western Siberia in early 1966. It was initiated by a group of geologists led by Academician A. Yanshin. Geologist Day was established by the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated March 31, 1966. Decree of the President of the Russian Federation No. 659 of July 31, 2013 consolidated the celebration. The holiday precedes preparations for expeditions and summer field work.

Holiday traditions

Traditionally, on this day, the management of enterprises in the field of geology presents certificates, diplomas, and awards to distinguished employees. Industry specialists are planning geological exploration expeditions and prospecting work. Museums host geological exhibitions. Festive concerts are held in cultural institutions.

Daily task

Find out what terrain and type of soil prevails in your home region.

  • Geology literally translated from Greek means “the study of the Earth.”
  • Planet Earth is 4.5 billion years old.
  • The first state prospecting and exploration institution in Russia was the Order of Mining Affairs. It was created by Tsar Peter I in 1700.
  • The deepest well in the world is the Kola Superdeep Well. It is located in the Murmansk region. Its depth is 12.26 km. The temperature at the deepest point is 220 °C.
  • The Darvaza gas crater is located in Turkmenistan. People call it the “Door to the Underworld”, or the “Gates of Hell”. In 1971, geologists drilled an exploration well in this place. They stumbled upon an underground void. The earth has collapsed. A cavity filled with gas has formed. To prevent harmful gas from escaping, geologists set it on fire. The fire has not gone out yet.
  • There is an interesting geological formation in Madagascar - a stone forest. It contains tall limestone towers.
  • The volcanic Mount Erebus is located in Antarctica. It is covered with ice towers that constantly emit steam. The steam freezes and the towers expand.

Whichever team manages to cover a large area of the country in expeditions gets a prize.

About the profession of geologists

The work of geologists is related to the search and assessment of mineral deposits, as well as the study of the structure of the earth's crust. Workers of this profession take part in exploration expeditions and research projects. Geologists often have to change their location and go on expeditions to remote wilderness areas. They have to live in the field for a long time, which is associated with discomfort. Therefore, this job requires good physical and mental health. The profession of a geologist is suitable for people who love to travel and make new discoveries.
