I don't like knitting patterns, which are directly related to knitting density. I prefer to knit patterns than according to the diagrams.

That's why I decided to find baby cap pattern and soon I succeeded.

I present to your attention the diagram I constructed.

In the book in which I found this cap pattern, others were also offered, more complex, consisting of several parts, but I chose this very one for knitting a simple pattern, because the knitted fabric stretches relatively easily and takes the desired shape.

The upper part (33 cm) is divided into three equal parts (11 cm each), segments of the same length are laid at the very bottom of the diagram (11 cm each).

Knit I started crochet single crochet from top to bottom.

I used a special one for knitting a cap. baby cotton .

It was very easy for me to knit, since the height of one row with my knitting density was exactly 0.5 cm.

Probably the most difficult thing is to make a decrease in order to knit a small rounding 2 cm high (see in the diagram), this is easier to do if you build a pattern, for example, on a newspaper and simply apply knitting to it, determining whether it is time to finish the row and move on to the next one.

The bend at the very bottom of the part (0.5 cm) causes somewhat less problems.

Narrow part cap(the back one) I had to make striped because the salad skein of cotton was not enough for a whole cap.

This explains why the lowest stripe of yellow thread is the widest.

After cap detail knitted in the shape of a strange letter T, all that remains is to assemble the cap by making two seams.

Make the seams outward, you don’t want them to put pressure on the delicate baby’s head from inside the cap.

I connected the cap using a crochet hook and yellow thread.

Then, using the same crochet hook, I tied the cap at the front, slightly tightening the knitting (to give the cap a more beautiful shape).

I tied the cap and along the bottom, from the same yellow threads I made and strings(I find them more practical than a button or other fastening options).

Of course, before using it for its intended purpose, the cap must be washed using detergents for children (for example, soap) and iron.

Decorate the cap can be done in a variety of ways: lace, ribbons, ruffles, embroidery or appliqué.

However, you should not be zealous in this direction, because for happy parents there is nothing more beautiful than the face of their newborn or newborn! :)

Knitted caps. Two-color.

If you have knitted socks, then you know how the heel is knitted.

Cast on 56 loops (this is for 2 or 3 months) knit 4 r. rib 1x1 and then evenly add another 10 stitches, knit with a pattern in in this case This:

1p: k1, p1, and so on until the end of the row.

2p: according to the drawing how the loops lie.

3 rub. Knit purl stitches over the knit stitches, and knit stitches over the purl stitches.

4p: knit according to the pattern.

Knit these 4 rows.

Knit like this for 10 - 12 cm, then divide all the loops into 3 parts and knit like a heel.

Having reached the bottom, we collect loops for the elastic from below along the edge and knit 2 cm with a 1x1 elastic band, leaving 3-5 loops for ropes along the edges.

When the hat is ready along the edges, heels, we cast on loops for the ruffles and intensively add loops (from 1 we make 3), 1 l., from 1-3, etc.

We make an increase only in the 1st row and then knit 4-5 cm in stocking stitch.

We make the second ruffle in exactly the same way, but 3-4 cm.

We tie the edges with cloves (hook).

If you think that the ruffles will hang too loosely, go along the edge, heel, with a needle and thread and pull it a little.
You can try on the hat if you have kids, I knitted 10 stitches more, because I knitted this costume for 6-9 months and it depends on the yarn. My thread was of medium thickness.

I embroidered the flowers with a knitting needle. Yes, if you need a larger size, cast on 65 stitches and then in the last row add 10 = 75. Of course, depending on what the pattern will be. Hat: Cast on 65 loops and knit with an elastic band 1x1 (1 knit, 1 purl), 3 cm. In the last row, add 10 loops and knit with a pattern of 13-14 cm (depending on the child’s head), I have 13 cm on this hat. 13 cm, we knit the cloves, for this we knit in stockinette stitch (knit on the face, and purl on the wrong side), 6 rows, and make holes in the 7th row (if the cloves need to be more visible, then we knit 1 edge stitch, 2 yarn overs, 2 loops together, knit and etc.). We simply knit the 8th row purlwise. Then we knit 4 more rows and we got 5 rows with the reverse 8th row. Using an additional needle, cast on from the wrong side in starting row knitting teeth, the same number of loops as on the main knitting needle. And now we knit the 6th purl row with purl loops, 2 loops together (one loop from the main knitting needle, and the other loop from the second knitting needle that raised the loops) and so on until the end until there are 75 loops again. And now we knit like a heel to a toe. When the hat is ready, cast on 65-62 loops along the bottom edge of the hat and knit with a 1 x 1.3 cm elastic band. In the last row, leave 4 loops at the edges for ties and bind off the remaining loops. Knit the ties in a 1x1 pattern, changing stitches every 2nd row. Purl over the knits, knit over the purls. Up to the length you need the strings. The hat is ready. Of course, you first need to remove all the extra threads from the wrong side.

To make the teeth white, we knit the 7th and 8th rows with white thread.

Pattern for a blue and hot pink hat.

The number of loops is a multiple of 2 + 1 + 2 edge loops.

1st row: (blue thread) knit stitches.
2nd row: (blue thread) knit stitches.
3rd row: (white thread) knit 1, remove 1 (thread at work), knit 1, remove 1 (thread at work), etc. at the end of the row, knit 1, edge 1.

Then switch to thinner needles and knit 1 k/1 p with an elastic band. 34 (40) sts from a straight needle, knit 8 (10) rows with an elastic band and loosely bind off the loops according to the elastic pattern.

The front and back of the hat are knitted with an elastic band, and there are “ears” on the sides. Using thinner knitting needles, cast on 20 (22) stitches along the closed edge of one part of the hat along the closed edge of the “ear” to the other part of the hat, tied with an elastic band. Attach a marker between the 10th (11th) and 11th (12th) loops.

To make the baby comfortable in the cap, there are no internal seams on the reverse side. The yarn used was Alize, containing 40% wool, 40% acrylic and 20% bamboo.

Knitting needles number 2.5 were used - a set of stockings and circular. Classic loops in the amount of 85 are cast on a circular knitting needle. We begin to knit an elastic band, alternating knit and purl stitches. This is how 10 rows are knitted, after which we proceed to knitting the main pattern.

The product is knitted from Alize yarn, consisting of 100% micropolyester. The rib is knitted with size 4 needles; for the main pattern, size 5.5 needles are used. The cap is knitted from yarn of two colors, which form a simple checkerboard pattern with a single-color edging along the edge.

For 50 grams of yarn there are 115 meters of thread, the thread is quite thick, so such thick knitting needles were used, and the result is a fairly warm thing. To knit a cap, first of all, we cast on 35 stitches on two knitting needles in the usual way. Next, a 1 x 1 elastic band is knitted, in which straight and straight lines alternate. reverse rows, and the front loops alternate with the purl ones.

Even in high humidity, merino yarn remains dry, maintaining optimal body temperature. Circular knitting needles were used, No. 4 for the main pattern and 3.5 for the ribbed pattern. The set of loops is made in the Italian way. A regular 1 x 1 elastic band is formed - patterns for such knitting are well known.

Selection of schemes

A cap is a mandatory outfit for a baby in the first hours of life. After the warm mother's womb, the baby gets cold, and you need to dress him as carefully as possible. Now there are no problems with choosing clothes for a newborn, but hand-made clothes always have greater preference.

You can order your first headdress from craftswomen, or you can try to create a hat with your own hands. On the Internet it is easy to find many options for a cap for a newborn with knitting needles with descriptions and diagrams. Everything will work out if you pay attention to the main points.

How to determine the size

The first problem that beginning needlewomen face is how to find out the size of the future item. For convenience, each manufacturer posts their own. The easiest way to find out for children is using a table. But all children are different, and it is better, of course, if it is possible to measure the circumference of the baby’s head.

So finished product it will be better to sit. To avoid mistakes with calculations, measurements are taken as follows:

Using a tailor's meter, we measure the circumference around the child's face, pulling the tape a little closer to the crown. From now on we will call this measure OL.
The second measurement is taken across the baby's head. We measure how many centimeters from the middle of the forehead to the top of the head.

It is better to repeat the measurement several times to make the result more accurate. The next step is to calculate the number of loops.

Preparation

Knitting a cap for a newborn with knitting needles is not at all difficult. The algorithm of actions is as follows:

On knitting needles size 2.5 we cast on 60 stitches of yarn of the same color. We knit six rows with a 1x1 rib. We switch to needles number 3 and continue knitting in stockinette stitch with yarn of a different color. So we continue 24 rows counting from the elastic band. Then we divide the loops by 20. These will be sections from right to left: right side part, back part, left side part. It is necessary to mark the 1st and 20th loop of the occipital part with markers.
To make it work correct form, we knit only the back of the head, the so-called bottom of the cap. At the end of each row we attach the side loops. To get a neat joint, you need to remove the loops on the front side that will be knitted together, unroll them, put them on again and knit them behind the back wall. From the wrong side we knit as usual.
In order for the cap to fit more tightly to the child’s head, the fabric of the back of the cap is usually reduced on both sides. There will be 6 such decreases in total. The first 10 rows after the start of knitting, then the next 2 every 6 rows and the last three every 4 rows. At the end of knitting, 8 sts of the back part will remain (20 sts - (6 sts * 2 sts) = 8).
The next stage is the design of the bottom edge of the product. There are 8 stitches left on the needles, and now you need to pick up additional loops from the edge braid. First, on the wrong side where the knitting stopped, then unfold the fabric and cast on the same number of loops on the front side. Then we unfold the future hat again and begin to knit a 1x1 elastic band for about 6 rows, then fasten the thread. This should not be done very tightly, but working thread you need to make ribbons. To do this, we cast on 2-3 stitches from the edge loops and weave the ties with knit stitch, garter stitch, or make a chain with a crochet stitch.
