Burdock, or burdock, grows in any garden or personal plot. Very often we try to get rid of this weed and uproot it from the ground. However, few people know that it is the root that contains a complex of nutritious fats, acids and minerals. Burdock oil is prepared by infusing the roots of the plant with another vegetable oil. The base can be olive, sunflower or sesame.

Indications for the use of burdock oil

  • Burdock oil perfectly fights fine wrinkles, aging and sagging skin. Burdock oil masks are recommended to be applied both at the first signs of skin aging and for deep wrinkles. Burdock copes with nasolabial and facial folds, with wrinkles around the eyes. By filling cells with natural collagen, the oil perfectly nourishes and smoothes the skin, making it not only beautiful on the outside, but also healthy on the inside.
  • This product should be used for dry and chapped skin. Oil removes peeling and hard crust. Burdock perfectly nourishes the skin with vitamins and fats, it becomes soft, like a child's.
  • Burdock oil has excellent bactericidal properties, which allows it to fight various inflammatory processes on the skin. It relieves irritation and redness, kills pathogenic bacteria and prevents the appearance of new wounds. Burdock oil gets rid of acne and blackheads for a long time.
  • Burdock oil perfectly softens the skin and allows other components of the mask to penetrate much deeper into the pores. This enhances the effect of the cosmetic product.
  • Burdock oil is also applied at times when the skin needs intensive protection. This applies to the autumn-winter period, when the face is exposed to frost, as well as on hot summer days, to protect the epidermis from the aggressive influence of ultraviolet radiation.

All these properties of burdock oil are activated only if you follow all the rules for its preparation and application.

  • Before preparing and applying the mask to your face, you need to remove all makeup. It is better to do this with special makeup removers so as not to injure the skin with excessive friction or dry it out with soap.
  • To prepare your face for applying oil, you must first ensure that the pores open. This can be done using a water bath. Steam makes the skin soft and better prepared for applying all kinds of cosmetics. Therefore, a mask applied after visiting a sauna or steam bath produces a triple effect.
  • At home, you can open your pores using a herbal compress. To do this, take one teaspoon each of nettle, chamomile, calendula and pour a glass of boiling water over the plants. Let it brew and strain.
  • Take a cosmetic wipe. If you don’t have one at hand, you can replace it with a piece of clean cloth. Cut out the shape of your face from it along the contour and make holes for the eyes - the napkin is ready. You should not use a napkin twice, especially if there are pimples and irritations on your face. Bacteria caught on the fabric can develop and transfer back to your face with repeated use.
  • Soak a napkin in a warm herbal infusion and apply it to your face. You need to keep the mask on for about 20 minutes.
  • After the napkin is removed, apply a thin layer of oil to your face. This must be done very carefully, with circular massage movements. When applying oils to the face, movements should be directed upward, along the skin tightening line.
  • It is recommended to leave the burdock oil mask for an hour, then remove with a dry cloth what is not absorbed.
  • There are several ways to complete the procedure. Rinse your face with the previously prepared herbal decoction - it is very useful for any skin type. If you have enlarged pores, wipe your face with pieces of ice - this will refresh and invigorate the epidermis.

Beneficial properties of burdock oil for the face

Many popular brands use burdock oil as a component of cosmetic products designed to care for aging and problematic skin.

Burdock oil affects the skin as follows:

  • saturates the upper layers of the dermis with nutrients;
  • normalizes the functioning of the sebaceous glands;
  • stimulates metabolism;
  • prevents inflammatory processes due to the content of arctigenin;
  • protects the epidermis from the negative effects of external factors.

Burdock oil is an ideal remedy for combating imperfections. It moisturizes dry skin - nourishes, smooths out wrinkles, tightens the facial contour and eliminates flaking. Improves the condition of oily skin - stimulates blood circulation, tightens pores, restores firmness and elasticity.

The natural product will become a protective barrier against the icy wind in winter or scorching sun rays in summer. It will soothe the skin, make it soft and tender, preventing inflammation, excess oiliness or dryness.

Application of burdock oil for facial skin

Burdock oil is a product with a high concentration of useful substances, so it can only be used in its pure form for spot-fixing problems:

  • treatment of acne, eczema, furunculosis, local dermatitis, psoriasis and other skin diseases;
  • reducing the number of acne;
  • rapid healing of old wounds and scars.

For targeted use, dip the tip of a cotton swab in oil, and then apply the product to problem areas, but do not rinse off, but wait until the oil is absorbed. If the acne areas are large, then the oil is diluted with water in a 1:1 ratio, the skin is cleansed with chamomile or linden infusion, and then the healing mixture is rubbed in with massage movements for 3 minutes. The water-oil composition is also not washed off, but wait until it is completely absorbed.

To rejuvenate and eliminate imperfections, burdock oil is added to day and night moisturizers, anti-aging serums, cleansing lotions, and homemade masks. The length of time the product stays on the skin depends on the recipe - it indicates how long after the applied mixture needs to be washed off and whether it can be left overnight. The average time is half an hour.

Preparing the skin for procedures

To obtain the expected effect from using burdock oil, it is important to properly prepare the skin. At the first stage, you should remove all makeup and wipe your face with lotion or milk.

To ensure that the active substances penetrate deeper, steam the skin with a warm compress or over a water bath. A decoction of calendula, chamomile and nettle opens pores well - take a spoonful of the dry mixture of each plant, pour a glass of boiling water, leave for 2 hours. Then soak a clean napkin or towel in the infusion and apply to your face for 15-20 minutes. If you use a napkin, then take a disposable one so that you can throw it away after the procedure along with the bacteria.

Distribute the product with massage movements in an upward direction to tighten the contour of the face. After removing the mask, rinse your face with the remaining infusion, and to add freshness and tighten pores, wipe your face with an ice cube.

Tips and recommendations for using products containing burdock oil

To get a good result when using burdock masks, you need to follow certain rules:

  • to prepare products you need to use pure burdock oil without additives;
  • The compositions should be applied to a face thoroughly cleansed of cosmetics. It is best to use special makeup removers;
  • Before applying the mask, it is recommended to open the pores. You can steam your face using a herbal bath or compress. To prepare a herbal bath, you need to throw a tablespoon of calendula, linden or chamomile into boiling water. With the help of steam, the pores open and the skin becomes softer and more receptive to cosmetic procedures. The ideal option would be to apply the product after visiting a sauna or bath;

  • the remaining product should be washed off with warm water or blotted with a dry cloth;
  • after completing the procedure, you can wipe your face with ice cubes or herbal infusion, this will help narrow the pores and tone the skin;
  • The duration of the cosmetic procedure is from half an hour to an hour. It is recommended to make masks 2-3 times a week. The full course is one month, then you should take a break.

Apply masks with burdock oil using gentle massage movements on the face and décolleté area.

Contraindications

With all the beneficial medicinal properties of burdock oil, it should be remembered that there are still contraindications:

  • excessive oily skin;
  • individual intolerance.

Usually burdock oil does not cause any side effects, but some people have an individual intolerance to both the oil itself and the components included in home remedies.

In order to find out if you are allergic to any product, you need to apply the prepared mixture to the inner bend of your arm and wait a little. If after some time the skin does not turn red or a rash appears, it can be used on the face.

You should also use the oil around your eyes with caution. Contact with burdock on the mucous membrane can lead to irritation, redness and swelling. If this happens, you should immediately rinse your eyes with cold water.
